Resolved Question: Paypal - the "safe" way to pay....?
I asked this a few minutes ago but people seemed to be missing the point so here they are broken down into sentences: 1. i did NOT buy from E-bay, i bought from Ioffer (a completely different site) 2. the reason Paypal will not fight to get my money back is BECAUSE i did not buy from E-bay and apparently they only protect customers that have bought from E-bay and paid through Paypal 3. my point is this - i am not asking about buying from China, or WHERE to buy GHDs i am just asking WHY you can pay via Paypal on MOST sites but yet they ONLY protect customers from E-bay? they are therefore not "the secure way to pay" as they advertise themselves to be. full question: I bought from a seller from the website Ioffer, the seller is from China, i bought GHD straighteners gold set from them. firstly they said they would not send the item, i asked for a refund, they refused. so i opened up an "item not recieved" case via paypal (which is how i paid for the purchase) a few days later they posted a tracking numbe which showed me and paypal that the item had then been sent. a week later i recieved the straighteners to discover they are fakes, scratched, the mirror fell straight out of the compact and smashed on the floor where my 2 year old was, the instructional dvd didn't even load in my dvd player and overall i was NOT happy. i contacted Paypal and asked what i could do now, i wanted to dispute an "item not as described" case and state fraud (as they were selling replica GHDs) whereupon paypal informed me "we only fight for people and their not as described purchases when they have bought from E-bay ONLY" what?! so why can paypal be used as payment on LOADS of sites including Ioffer, jewellery sites, hair extension sites like HeadKandy, etc if they ONLY help customers that have bought from E-bay? not such a "safe" method of payment at all.....

Han - the whole POINT of paying through paypal is meant to be that you are protected if your item is not recieved or not as described. TONS of times i have bought from E-bay and used this method of payment and if i had a problem then Paypal rectified it for me - which is WHY they charge fees! completely different from your comparison honey. Paypal is meant to be there to protect buyers, but apparently ONLY if they have bought the product from E-bay...

Resolved Question: How does variety get a category?
If you want to buy a knife, you simply search and there are hundreds of places from which to buy a specific knife. If you want to buy a mouse and a cat to go with it, there are hundreds of places to do so. My question is: If you don't specialize in any one category, but sell a variety of different things (LP's, Books, a clock, a set of dishes, a military patch from 1945, etc) how do you categorize your business so that you can be found by those who want to shop or window shop on your site? I don't want to rely on a ''booth'' at Bonanzle or a ''store'' on iOffer, although they are nice, I'd like to sell from my own site, my own, storefront. I'd trade links with every odd-ball like me in the USA.

Resolved Question: Is it safe to buy a iphone 3G S from china?o ask?
I was on a website called ioffer.com, and I see that they are selling iphone 3G S unlocked. The sellers are from china or asia. I know in china, the iphone's are legally unlocked. I am thinking of buying one for about $325.00. They say they are 100% authentic. Should I trust this, or don't waste my time and money. Thanks.

Resolved Question: Is it safe to buy things from ioffer.com?
I've seen something(s) i'd like to buy on ioffer.com, the seller has a few things for sale, but he has 0 feedback and im not sure about this website yet. After you've paid for the items could they just run off with your money without Paypal being able to get my money back? The seller is from the UK so that's abit more reassuring. If it was Ebay it wouldn't bother me because they say you're safe when shopping with paypal and since ebay own paypal there shouldn't be any problems. Also, do you know of any other websites similar to Ebay and ioffer?

Resolved Question: Buying things online from china?
In the past couple of weeks i've bought alot of things off Ebay and a few things from other websites. Two of the items i've bought on ebay are coming from China and Hong Kong. I also bought two pairs of trainers from a website beased in China. Now im getting worried, because i've just read something on a new website that i discovered (ioffer.com). They wrote about how their products will go through chinese custms, but after that you are responsable for it (or something like that anyway). They make it sound like it's illegal or something? I read elsewhere on the site, that one package was stopped at Italian cstoms and sent back to China. If i have any problems, would paypal (/ebay) be able to get my money back for me? Thay always say that you're safe with paypal and covered, but are you?

Resolved Question: Brits have you ever been defrauded on ebay or ioffer?
I am just wondering I bought a designer item from a british seller on ioffer and it turned out to be a counterfeit. I have the address of the seller as when he mailed me the item, senders are required to state their address. So is there any recourse or legal action that I can take. I am living outside of Britain. so SumGuy if the value is over $5000, is there anything I can do.
