Resolved Question: Cancel seller charges on eBay....?
I sold a few items and was charged £29.53 last month, this including all the eBay fees. However, I was charged again for the same amount this month even though I didn't sell anything. I have checked my account information including subscriptions and I haven't signed up to anything so I couldn't have been charge for anything else. I have agreed to automatically pay my eBay seller fees with PayPal. But I didn't sell anything this month. Since I've only just paid for this months fee I can't check the invoice.
Please suggest why I might have been charged even though I didn't sell anything within this month.
Thanks!

Resolved Question: Are cars sold by eBay auction cheaper than actual private sales through newspaper classifieds?
Looking for a car around £500-1000, it seems that cars sold by eBay auction go for much less than the privately advertised prices in local papers and Autotrader. Do cars in local classified ads actually sell anywhere near the asking prices? Would people pay eBay fees to sell their cars for less? Any knowledge welcome, please!

Resolved Question: Has anyone else made a LOSS on Ebay as a seller? grrrrrrrr?
Hi - Am I the only one FED UP with Ebay????
All I heard about were the SUCCESS stories of people making tons of money on there and how some people are making more on there than being in actual employment etc
BUT I was just trying to make ''pocket money'' to live on ... And it has been A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE
Not JUST Ebays fault - I must admit - the Post Office ( uk ) have been TERRIBLE too with the postal delays causing disputes plus my Feedback score going down so Ebay won't even now release my Paypal funds
MANY ITEMS went missing in the post - even recorded delivery items DIDN'T REACH THE OTHER END
I have LOST OUT on so much money on there as once the item is sold Ebay take their fees still even if the item is refunded for
It is around 10 per cent they take as a ''final value fee''
So by the time I paid my Ebay Fees etc and postal costs and missing out on undelivered goods - I was @ a LOSS and def did NOT MAKE MONEY on darn Ebay!!!
The ONLY people who got rich OFF ME were the Post Office , Ebay and Paypal - They're laughing - But I am definitely NOT!
Please let me know if you ar anyone you know has had a BAD experience selling on Ebay - Espeacially @ a loss
Coz all I heard about before were the SUCCESS stories - Not the DARK / bad side!!!!!!!!
Thanks
Resolved Question: Ebay, whats the point?
I recently listed Gladiator (dvd, 2 disc Special edition, only watched once) on Ebay because it recently been replaced by the Blu Ray edition. Well anyways i started auction at 99p starting bid and Ebay wouldn't allow to charge for Postage. so after 3 days on the market a got one bidder in the last 5 seconds. Sold for 99p wow! Real bargain for the buyer. But what about me the seller, i had to pay 90p for postage then on top of that Ebay fees and pay pal fees! So where was my profit for my dvd, and all the time it took me to list it in the first place. In fact it actually cost me to sell it!, Ebay, yep great for buyers, not so good for sellers in my opinion.
Resolved Question: Can I block a specific eBayer from buying on my eBay site?
Well I'm sure it happens to a lot of us,I sell on eBay,recently someone left me unreasonable feedback - due to packaging being damaged during transit, she didn't bother to contact me about the issue and left 5 negative feedbacks (5 items in 1 package),I also gave a significant postage discount and responded to her questions (before sending) politely and on 2 occasions.Having discovered she's left bad feedback I messaged her but there has been no response - this is the 1st negative i have had in over a year and I'm totally annoyed because I cannot control the actions of Royal Mail....anyways I'm told I can block specific people from buying again,is this true and if so how??Cheers - personally i don't think it's possible but any help would be appreciated.Oh and just for the record eBay fees are TOO high!!!!Thanks !!!

Resolved Question: how do you pay for something on ebay and not use the money in your paypal account that's for the ebay fees?
Resolved Question: Unable to pay a seller on eBay?
I won an item on eBay and went to pay for it using PayPal but it won't let me it just says this card cannot be used for this transaction even though I have enough money in my account. I contacted the seller and he upgraded his account so I could pay but I'm still getting the same message. So after all this nuisance I contacted the seller to cancel the item using the returns on ebay he refused saying that now he has ebay fee's to pay... but once someone accidentally clicked buy it now on mine and I sorted it out and didn't cost me anything???
TBH I think he is trying to sell me a fake product or second hand product as I have asked if the product is sealed 4 times and he hasn't replied he's only replied to my ones about canceling the item...
Help me I don't know what to do, he's being really reluctant and I don't want to be banned from eBay as I have tried to sort it out with seller but he won't help!
Voting Question: Ebay fee. If the buyer doesn't pay for an item, do I still get charged the 10% final valuation fee?
I know this may be a dumb question but I'm pretty new to this. A buyer put a bid in for my item and won it then just disappeared. Will Ebay still charge me 10% final valution fee even though the transaction never actually went through?
If they would charge me, is there any way for me to check if they have and and follow it up to get the fee back?
This is further compounded by the fact that Ebay now make it so that you HAVE to leave positive feedback for a buyer. What am I meant to do? Mark him as a positive and then write "None payment. Coms sent and ignored. Avoid!"?
Resolved Question: Ebay Paypal Dispute - urgent help needed.?
I have contacted both ebay and paypal about this but they take a while to respond and hope this is quicker.
Buyer won one of my items with buy it now without asking q's and reading full description, and first didn't want to pay claiming they never bid but their bid history showed they had bid on others too. Once I opened unpaid item case they left negative feedback claiming it was a threat and then said they misread description and after lots of replies they agreed to pay to avoid unpaid item strike. Less than a day after paying they filed item not received claim freezing my money in paypal. They have now received it but have escalated claim to significantly not as described to try and get the money back.
In previous messages they have admitted to agreeing that the description was correct, and even when it arrived they said that it doesn't fit being item not as described but filed the claim anyway as they don't want it. So they knew what they were buying when they paid for it but believe they are trying to scam me and heard this happens quite a lot - their feedback is only 4 and set to private and their language/spelling is very bad too increasing my suspicion.
They have now said if I don't give them the money back today they will contact a solicitor to sort it out. They said they would give me back my ebay fees and paid part of it without me responding to them - i moved that money out my account to make sure they dont try and cause more problems with that too.
I am wondering if I should go forward with disagreeing with the dispute as they have admitted a few times that they knew what they were buying and price they paid was £100.
I think they may have said they would contact solicitor as a threat to make me try and give them their money back as they might lose claim as they had admitted knowing its conditon etc before paying.
What should I do. If i continue with dispute is there a chance i would win and get the money as they had admitted knowing what they were buying.
Thank you for the first reply - I will probably follow dispute all the way and have already reported them to ebay multiple times and blocked them from my auctions.
From their messages they don't seem to be very educated (just one long sentence with loads of spelling mistakes and no punctuation) and think they are trying to scam me, so like you said think that it is just a threat to get me to give them the money back.
Thanks for the advice in second response.
All contact has been through ebay messages and paypal dispute, although once they escalated claim in paypal I dont think I can see previous messages left in paypal.
I will continue with the dispute and ignore any further messages from them - especially until I hear back from ebay or paypal.
And now as a few people have said will ignore their threat trying to scare me into refunding them.
I would also post this question on ebay but last time most people started blaming me and then all went off topic.
Thanks for all the help, but got fed up with them and just decided to close the case and give the refund - what they bought wasn't actually worth all that money and not worth the time or hassle.
However they are still being annoying. They paid me my ebay listing and final value fees as well as postage so got £16 - i sent that to parents paypal account immediately so have £0 in my account (regret not doing that for the £100 and will most likely be doing that from now on for high amounts).
But as soon as i closed the dispute and refunded £100 they said they had seen i had given refund but was strange that they didn't seem to have the money in their account and immediately filed claims for the payment they gave me saying item not as described and trying to con me again - i escalated for paypal to decide, but there is no money in my account so they cant get anything.
I will be reporting them again to ebay and paypal - they are just scamming timewasters and should be banned!!!
Resolved Question: Ebay, Invoice seller fees?
So i was wondering, Because i made my account on the 21st of June, i got my invoice through at the end of that month and it told me all the credits and debits and all off my ebay fees, And i got the ammount taken out of my paypal on the 17th of July, So when do you actually get the money taken out of your account because i got told it gets taken out monthly from the date you made your account, and i also got told that the money gets taken out of your paypal at the end of every month.. can someone clarify? because it looks too me it just gets randomly deducted.. thanks.
Resolved Question: EBAY - Second chance offer? Ebay fees?
Hello, could someone tell me how the second chance offer works for a sellers and buyers point of view? and also how this would really annoy someone who had one a bid and just gets out bidded when the auctions over?
Also, Ebay fees? What does the DEBITS list mean? and the CREDITS list mean? I really dont understand none of it because i did some sums and it doesnt add up.. Plus where it says CURRENT BALANCE, What is that supposed to mean? Thanks.
Resolved Question: Ebay's policy on "free" postage and packaging for DVD's, games. Would my idea be within their rules?
As many of you may know, Ebay now have a policy of "free" postage and packaging for DVDs and games. This is false economy in it's purest form, unless someone can tell me a postal service that will deliver for free?
I know about the option of adding the postage to the price of the item (taking it over the 99p free insertion limit, therefore incurring a 10p listing fee every other time) but, as is the case with DVDs the item sometimes has to be relisted many times before a buyer is sold and, if it's an item of low value anyway, your re-listing fees (plus postage and ebay fees) can add up to the amount of profit being made,... In truth, giving the item away.
A way around it I've thought about is if Ebay want to take postage out of the equation then fine,.... But the Postman is taken out of the equation too, making all items pick up only. But giving the option of posting it to them if they so wish for a fee.
Does anyone know if this would be within Ebay rules? Any thoughts or opinions greatly appreciated.
Voting Question: AM i being ripped off by ebay?
I get charged £14.50 every month by ebay regardless of wether I sell any thing or not. If I do sell stuff it's more obviously but when I go to invoice to see what exactly this charge is for there is no itemisation at all, it just say ebay fee. It's really annoying esp as they have no contact numbers in the uk that i can find and its been happening for many months now. I think it started when I used their 'shop' facility. I don't want this facility any more but again hit a wall when it comes to cancelling it. I feel as though i've being ripped off and it happens every month. I dont want to close my account as i have lots of good ratings. help!
Resolved Question: Selling stuff on ebay - fees?

Resolved Question: Has anyone else been caught out by the enormous hike in ebay fees recently?
I just sold a pair of boots for £70, but was a bit downhearted to note that ebay are claiming over £10 of that back in listing and final vanue fees. The theiving b*stards.
value, not vanue, or whatever that made up word was that I typed.
Resolved Question: Fees for selling on ebay? help please!?
i've been using ebay for about two years now and i've been selling stuff on ebay for about a year...but only in the last two months, ebay and paypal have been taking money from me... paypal, about 6 weeks ago paypal took 150 pounds for "their services" of which they would not explain but redirected me to the fees page.. and on the same day ebay took 52.07 from my account.....and again two weeks later.....and today they just took another 50.07 pounds.....what the F*CK is all this about??
is there fees for being a seller? i've barely sold a thing in the last couple of months!! so y are they taking my money?
and pls dont send links to the ebay fees and tax page, i've looked and apparenlty i should only get charged a listing fee and final value fee.. i've had some things that've been listed for almost a month now..still there for the next few days.but don't know if that has anything to do wiht it. any help would be nice :)
thanks

Resolved Question: Is it safe to do bank transfer instead of eBay?
Someone is offering to do bank transfer with the money instead of eBay because he will pay me less but i don't have to worry about pay pal or eBay fees so it works out the same. Is this safe and can anything go wrong?
Im the seller BTW
Resolved Question: eBay selling - sorry, new to this?
ok, I have loads of books I want to sell just to get rid of them, and if I put them on, bidding starting at 0.99p, what happens if they don't sell? Do I still pay the eBay fee for it ? I've looked up simularquestions on here about this, but nothings helping me. Thank You
what about selling other things for 0.99p, like clothing / games etc
Voting Question: Are you puzzled by Ebay fees ?
I can not follow the fees/price rates on Ebay. I am fairly intelligent, but when I tried to categorise the item i was selling i thought i had selected one category but found it confusing. When I got my bill it was about three times more than i was expecting. I was shocked for having to pay so much in fees for an item, THAT DID NOT SELL.
I emailed Ebay but no sympathy from them. If you read their fees info they charge for every thing. They seem to be squeezing every possible penny out of you. There was an article about this in a top PC magazine. Has Ebay finally lost its charm through GREED, they should watch out as they are not the only auction site on the internet !!!
Resolved Question: How do I work out VAT with ebay?

Resolved Question: Do you think ebay fees are too expensive?

Your thoughts?

I have a couple of odd dinner plates - 2 x Sun Midwinter, A Meakin Wayside and several early Portmeirion Pomona. Should I list them on ebay (fees, postage & packing) or take them to the car boot in 2 weeks time? Do plates do well at car boots?
Resolved Question: How do I transfer my own funds to my Paypal account?

Resolved Question: Are Ebay fees too high?
For example of a 5GBP DVD
Listing 10p
Final value fee 50p
Paypal fee 50p
Withdrawal fee 25p
Total fees 1.35p for a 5GBP item. That's 27%
Resolved Question: item i sold on ebay hasnt been recieved?
looking some advice - i posted an item to a buyer last week it was only a light item so i sent it first class packet as advertised so there was no tracking number as such. the post office gave me a reciept and wrote the house number and post code on it they also told me you could claim insurance up to 30pounds.
i suppose my question is should i refund the buyer and try and claim the money back myself? its not even the cost of postage but its th ebay fees ive lost also - can you claim those from royal mail?
my feedback has always been 100% infact most of my comments have been extremely fast postage - so im 100% genuine
Resolved Question: Need a website that I can upload stock myself on a daily basis?
I have asked round and have quotes from £600 - £3000 but not all these allow me to list stock myself th3ey want to be able to do it but my stock changes daily and so items require listing everyday. It would be a full time job for anyone else to do it - which defeats the object of running own business.
Need something like eBay format (not as complicated) with pay buttons. Any suggestions? I'm not hugely technical but a friend says if it is not built right the search engines won't direct any new buyers to my site anyway and it will be a waste.
My eBay fees are currently around £1000 - £1200 per month across 4 eBay accounts and I'm trying to reduce this but 2 places have suggested I still keep the eBay accounts and run along side - I might as well not bother with own website then. Need some direction and basic advice please
Resolved Question: i put an item for quick sale on ebay...?
I've just put an item on quick sale on ebay (first time selling) and after I have agreed to paypal agreements (in order to pay ebay fees), received an activation code by phone and entered it, I can't seem to find my ad anywhere in my account. Does it normally take time to appear and if so how long? I mean at least shouldn't there be some sort of confirmation that I've enlisted an item and that it will show later on (kind of like on gumtree)?
thanks

Resolved Question: Ebay fees in Profit and Loss account?
A question for any accountants out there about writing up a profit and Loss account for an Ebay business.
Should Paypal fees, Ebay Fees and the cost of postage and packaging be added to your Overhead Expenditure or should the figures be used to calculate the cost of sales together with the stock?Or something else?
Voting Question: What can I do about ebay? I don't think I owe them anything.?
I put an item up for auction and the person who won didn't pay so I opened a dispute. The dispute ended with myself being awarded a Final Fee Credit. I then paid my ebay fees and relisted the item using ebay's relist function which says it will reinburse you with the insersion fee if the item sells the second time around. It did sell the 2nd time. I have not recieved any credits or anything and now ebay are demanding that I owe them £45 for the second item even thought they have not given me any credits which would cover the cost of the bill. They have now passed my debt on to a debt collection agency. Can someone please help?? Thank you to anyone who does.

Resolved Question: Ebay seller fees self employed tax return?
Hi there
since November 2007, I started a small income on ebay and went part time at work. I am a self employed sessional worker, so have informed Inland Revenue of my 2 incomes. I am going to attempt to do my own tax return/self assessment this year, but the problem is, nobody can seem to be able to tell me whether I can offset my ebay fees against how much tax I pay. Surely it is a cost to me so I should be able to class it as an overhead. I want to get it right and be honest so if anyone could shed some light on this I would be very grateful! thanks xx
Resolved Question: Buy it now ebay help?
I am currently selling an item on ebay and I have it up as an auction as ebay would not allow me to put it as a buy it now item, which I would have prefered.
A potential buyer has contacted me asking do I have a buy it now price and they would be able to collect the item and pay cash as they live in the area. I am happy to do this, but ebay will not let me put it as buy it now which is the problem I am having.
I went to the help pages and this is what I found:
Fixed Price format
When you choose to list in the Fixed Price format, you simply indicate the price at which you'd like to sell your item(s) and buyers can purchase from your listings immediately at that price.
'To sell with Fixed Price format, you must:
have either a minimum feedback rating of 10, or
have confirmed Direct Debit on file for payment of eBay fees (this may take up to 19 days and is not available to eBay.ie sellers), or
if you have a PayPal account, you need to have a minimum feedback score of 5 and accept PayPal as a payment method.'
I do not have feedback above rating 10 on ebay or above score of 5 on paypal, so the second option is the only possibilty. How do I get a confirmed direct debit on file? Can I meet up with the buyer and accept cash for the item without putting buy it now as an option, or would this break any ebay rules?
I hope my question makes sense, I don't have much understanding of ebay so I am in desperate need of some help! Thank you

Here’s something GUARANTEED to keep you awake tonight!
“One of the LAST few genuine ‘hidden money making methods’ left”
·BUT – I don’t sell a single THING!
·My Ebay fees are just virtually non-existent whenever I use this method.
· I have almost NO competition – most people don’t see the hidden money just waiting for them on Ebay, or if they do they keep very quiet about it.
· In fact most people probably know nothing about this system - this is a different way of working Ebay.
·Absolutely anyone can do this – ‘Newbie’ or Powerseller alike, yet this is one of the LAST few genuinely ‘hidden money making methods’ left.
I make a very good income from a number of different money-making methods.
This is by far the easiest, quickest and most effective method I use.
It’s also my favourite.
EASY MONEY FROM EBAY
So how can this guide help you start to change things?
Ebay, I once heard is the 12th most visited webpage on the planet. There are millions of people who are registered to buy and sell on Ebay with more joining very day.
There are hundreds of thousands of people who either make a living or supplement their incomes by buying and selling on Ebay
That means there are also millions who have failed and lost money trying to sell on Ebay.
And that’s fine by me!
· I DON’T WANT to you to sell on Ebay. Selling will not be your priority. Using the information in this book you’ll watch others do the selling then put this amazing system into action.
· The best Ebay sellers, and especially the Powersellers are the ones who can make the most money for you.
· You won’t have the hassle of fulfilling orders or handling abusive refund requests. You won’t worry about your products being pirated or stolen and nor do you have to worry about negative feedback.
· Simply put, this method can allow you to just make money from Ebay in a little known way that is hassle free and takes up just a few hours a week.
· If you want to work from home, from the comfort of a warm PC while the rest of the world rushes round like mad ants then this could be where you start.
· If you want a JOB, which is slowly draining what’s left of your life and making someone else rich then fine. I wish you well.
I’ll also give you the exact wording of an email that has brought me over a thousand pounds in 24-48 hours – time after time.
So where’s the catch?
There are two:
1. You’ll have to put some work and effort in – like I said, this isn’t a fake get rich quick scam.
2. You may have to admit that you’ve wasted a lot of your life working for the wrong person. Now it’s time to start working for the right person – YOU.
