Web buzz about auction Royal...

Resolved Question: Currently: Queen Vic's Giant Pants Fetch 600 Nicker - will our 'new Royals' be wearing such attire?
A pair of Queen Victoria's bloomers have been sold at auction for the rather large size of £600. The drawers themselves are rather large - measuring 52 inches around the waist and obviously worn by Her Majesty in her later years when she had opted for comfort over fashion. The bloomers were quite in demand, says Charles Hanson, the auctioneer in charge of the bidding. "There was interest from all over the world". Source: Sky News

Resolved Question: Are you checking your change?! And for how much would your sell your 20p coin?
London, July 4 (ANI): A punter was left ecstatic after he was handed out a rare undated 20p coin worth more than 7,000 pounds in change for his pint. Lloyd Hefferman had been with his friends at The Botolph Arms pub in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, when bar staff gave him the coin, which was amongst others mistakenly released by the Royal Mint in Cardiff last year. A handful of coins had already found takers on auction site eBay, with one fetching as much as 7,100 pounds recently. "I had heard about the rare 20 pence pieces on the news that day, and was talking with my mates about how brilliant it would be to find one," the Telegraph quoted Hefferman as saying. "When I was given my change I thought I would have a look to see if I had one, not expecting to find it and then I just couldn't believe my eyes. "I have had offers from friends and colleagues for up to 500 pounds, but won't be selling it yet." eanwhile, a spokesman for the Royal Mint also said: "Last year there was an unusual lapse in quality control at the Royal Mint. A batch of 20p coins were issued with mismatched sides. The result is a number of 20p coins have entered circulation without a date."

Resolved Question: MS Royal Star was being auctioned after being impounded in Mombasa. Did any cruise line buy her?
Ex- Africa Safari Club vessel. Nice ship. Sal*UK..... Thanks but your info is out of date.

Resolved Question: Has anyone else noticed the deterioration of the Royal Mail recently?
I buy and sell stuff on online auctions, and up to now have only had one or two things go missing in the mail over a period of several years. BUT, over the last 2 months I have had 3 items sent to me that have still not arrived after several weeks. I have posted 5 items to mainland europe that have went missing. As a matter of fact, the Royal Mail's own website tell me that the items are still 'being processed for shipment abroad'. At least 3 weeks after posting and these items still have not left UK yet..??????????? Furthermore, the royal mail tell me that in instances of international post going astray I have to wait 3 weeks before putting in a claim that can then take a further 4 MONTHS(!!!!) for compensation to be issued.!! I have had enough of this mickey mouse run company. I am now looking elsewhere for to use for my post. I would advise others to do the same.

Resolved Question: Do think little Joshua will receive some light into this life with the course of stem cell therapy ?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/mid_/7857268.stm The auction, organised by neighbours of the Clarks, is being held at the Celtic Royal Hotel in Caernarfon on Thursday night. Edit: Setanta Boru! Wouldn't call myself religious at all...to be honest i thought they were umbilical stem cells which i don't believe is wrong...will read up on this for sure. Thanks! Edit: Thanks Andi C!

Resolved Question: What would you do in this situation?
Basically my husband bought a camcorder from ebay..the seller stated the item etc and nothing more. Postage 1st class Royal mail. We bought it on the 8th and got it today and it had been posted 2nd class. I emailed them a few days ago and asked if they had sent it and if it had a charger with it..their reply was "yes posted no charger" that was it! So i'm annoyed as they didn't state in the auction that it didn't come with a charger...also it doesn't work!! We managed to charge it from our laptop to test it and it dosen't work!! What would you do? We got it for a good price so i think that is why the seller is being so funny. Thanks,

Resolved Question: Is this okay? Does it offend anyone? Does it contradict Yahoo Answers 'T&C's or Community Guidelines?
IS/ARE THE PERSON(S) WHO GOT MY ACCOUNT SUSPENDED/BANNED PROUD OF THEMSELVES? Dear Sir/Madam, I have been informed that my account with Yahoo Answers has been suspended, and have been asked to supply a reason as to why it should not be! I would like to put to you, and your committee, that my contributions to Yahoo Answers has been mature, informative, and, by way of emails sent to me, by both desperate youngsters (whom I am very, very proud to help, when they have had urgent, and nigh-on, suicidal needs!), and very needy adults... in want of honest, direct, and sometimes, urgent assistance of both, reassurance, and help, after I have aided them in overcoming their fears, insecurities, and despair! Yet, once more.... prejudice, envy, and diabolical intent, has forced your hand in suspending my account? I have done my utmost to help people, request help, on behalf of both myself and friends... too shy, and it seems, with very good reason, assault on their character, to enter the questions themselves! They have asked me to act on their behalf, exactly for the reason you are suspending my account..... fear of retribution, and/or they are in a dilemma, either too embarrassing (to them!), or beyond the point of caring to know of a 'way out'. You will find, in many of my answers, that I care enough to ask the persons in great need of help, to email me personally, so that I can help them further.... only where it is obvious, or I have felt, in my heart-of-hearts, that they have been in 'dire need', or a serious medical/psychological condition is prevalent, or imminent! I have experience in this! My mother and father were alcoholics... I was routinely beaten and abused as a child.... both of my parents suffered from mental health disorders (bipolar disorders, and social phobia's), I have since, lost my mother to 'alcoholic cardio-myopathy'. My best friend died two years ago, as she was a self-harmer, and God bless her... she committed involuntary suicide! I have been trained to deal with abuse victims by the University Student Union, where I was Head of Social Welfare Services, and will continue to do so, either on your site, or via other help sites to which I am affiliated. I also feel that my experience lies in my 'life circumstances'. I am a single parent of three children. A son aged 14, and daughter's, aged 11 and 10. An 'awkward age', I am sure that you will agree, for a family consisting of two parents?! I left school with no qualifications, after taking their 'advice', "to leave before my exams, as I would not amount to anything'', and worked, from the age of 15, for two years, in an abattoir.... I was a Butcher! I went on to work as an ambulance driver for six months. I went back to college, and heaven forbid.... defied my detractors... and passed all qualifications with 'distinctions'... then onto a 7 year University course, to study Architecture. During this period, I worked as a delivery driver, in a car auctions, as a betting shop manager, an architectural technician, and as a production line supervisor manufacturing micro-electronic circuit boards! I gained a BA (Hons, 1st Class) in International Architecture, a Master's Degree in the same, and passed the Royal Institute of British Architects (R.I.B.A.) membership exam's, Parts I, II. and III, with 'merit'. I own my own Company, am self-employed as a practicing Architect, and am currently fighting tooth and nail, to stop this government's disgusting, abominable, persecution of all things English, accomplished, and 'legally/morally' attained, and obtained. I am a huge believer in 'if you don't laugh.... you cry', remedial therapy! This is how I have survived my whole life! I am very empathetic to people's problems, and believe that if you can make ONE single person smile, even once a day, you have achieved more than expected, desired, or wanted from you. Indeed, I truly believe that, of the 365 smiles that you can put on peoples faces, in one year, you will save one person from suicide.... make one life-long friend, and will have 'earned' the right to claim that, 'I did Okay this year... next year I will make two smiles per day, and feel twice as relevant!' Unfortunately, this is never the case! This suspension has proved to be the undoing of that theory! I am fast losing the trust, and ability, of certain persons to act in a reasonable, unbiased, just, independently thinking manner. I am not perfect! I am not 'righteous', nor conformist! I have to some(or many?), a distasteful sense of humour and I am outwardly confident. But, I am fair! When I see someone truly in need of advice or assistance, I provide it 100%! For reference, consult my Questions and Answers! As I stated, I have read your 'Code of Conduct' and 'Community Guidelines' and I know the expectations placed upon me! So I again ask you, which, if any, codes of decency, respect, 'Terms of Service', practice, or responsibility, have I infringed? The only inkling I have rec received, and you felt it necessary to send was as follows:- Account suspension notice email From: Yahoo! Resolved Question: What we can do? What is the cheapest way?
This is the full story, what we can do? Please help. Thanks!!! "Dear Sir/Madam, I would like to appeal against a penalty charge that I have encountered for my vehicle (registration number:....). On 11th August 2007, we have moved from ...., London .... to ...., London ...... Every two weeks we kept going back to the old address to check up on our mail but every single time the new resident has advised us that we had not received anything. One day, I have gone around again and found a letter in the letterbox from the LBWF Parking Control Office, telling me that despite their first letter I have not paid my penalty for the car. Obviously, due to not receiving the first letter I could not pay the fine and the charge has gone up by then. On the letter it stated the penalty charge number (....), the vehicle registration number, location and date of contravention (... Road, CCTV, 11/09/2007) and the total amount of charge that was already £155.00. After reading this letter I have immediately appealed against it, asking the proof of the CCTV shot because I did not remember being on ....Road at that time and also explaining the fact that I have moved and did not receive the first letter. I have posted my appeal to The Traffic Enforcement Centre at Northampton County Court, NN1 2LH. I have sent this by recorded delivery. After this I have not heard back from anyone acknowledging the receipt of my appeal or anything regarding this matter. On 17/09/2008 I have received a red letter from JBW Enforcement Ltd. Re: Bailiff Removal Notice. The letter stated that I must pay £363.84 in 5 days otherwise a removal team and police will enter my property and remove goods to sell at public auction. This is blackmail and absolutely unacceptable! I have immediately called JBW but they said they cannot do anything. I have to pay the fine or go to a lawyer. I had to pay this ridiculous amount because someone had made a mistake or disregarded my appeal. I now would like this amount to be refunded back to me because it was out of my control to pay the fine in the first place. I have proof of my appeal that was sent on 25/01/08 and the registered mail number from Royal Mail."

Resolved Question: Queen Victoria's underwear auctioned off. Should this have happened?
I have just heard on the radio news that some of Queen Victoria's underwear has been sold at an auction. The sum obtained was only about 15, 000 pounds. They even gave the poor woman's undie measurements. Bloomers = 50 inches, waist measurement. Camisole = 88 inches, bust measurement. Petticoat = no size given. I think this is most unseemly & Royal undies should be in the museum or left in a drawer somewhere. What do you think? Sorry I don't have a link as I heard this on the radio. 66 inch bust does still seem large, but thanks for that. Duirmuid, 'they' have 'V.R.' embroidered on them.
