Web buzz about Queens Auction...
Resolved Question: Queen Mother's meat baster is to be auctioned at Sotheby's. Will it attract much interest?
Resolved Question: How rare are these coins and how much are they worth?
I've looked on the Internet to crud results :L
First one says on first side: ELIZABETH II D.G . REG . F . D . and is either side of the queens head who looks young and is wearing a tiara/crown.
On the second side is a picture of The prince Of Wales and Lady Diana. The words circling them are: THE PRINCE OF WALES AND LADY DIANA SPENCER . 1861 . H.R.H.
This coin is bigger than a modern two pound coin.
The second coin has a picture of George VI and the writing says: GEORGEIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX
On the other side is a a shield I think and it says: HALF CROWN 1950 on the bottom and FID . . DEF on the top. It's the same size a a 2 pound coin ish...
Thank you sooooooooooooooooooo much if you can help and don' tell me to go on an auction site please...
Resolved Question: Currently: Queen Vic's Giant Pants Fetch 600 Nicker - will our 'new Royals' be wearing such attire?
A pair of Queen Victoria's bloomers have been sold at auction for the rather large size of £600.
The drawers themselves are rather large - measuring 52 inches around the waist and obviously worn by Her Majesty in her later years when she had opted for comfort over fashion.
The bloomers were quite in demand, says Charles Hanson, the auctioneer in charge of the bidding.
"There was interest from all over the world".

Resolved Question: Where do you think this gem encrusted gold finial belongs?
Ten years after being found lying in the vaults of an English bank, a gem-encrusted gold finial plundered from Tipu Sultan's huge golden throne is being put up for sale in London.
Auctioneers Bonhams, who describe the finial as "one of the most important Tipu items ever to appear for sale", have valued it at around 800,000 pounds.
The tiger-head finial was one of eight that stood on each end of a gigantic gold octagonal throne in Seringpatnam, on which Tipu - a legendary admirer of the tiger - would have sat cross-legged, but didn't because he vowed not to mount it until he had defeated the British.
It was discovered during a routine inspection by auctioneers in the late 1990s, having lain in an English castle for at least 100 years and then in a bank vault.
Only two more of the eight finials are known to exist - one is in the Clive Collection in Wales. Another briefly appeared in a London dealer's catalogue in the 1970s, never to be seen again, Claire Penhallurick of Bonhams Indian and Islamic Department, said.
The finial going under the hammer April 2 belongs to the family of Thomas Wallace, who oversaw the East India Company, whose army defeated Tipu Sultan in the battle of Seringapatnam (Srirangapatnam) May 4, 1799.
Penhallurick said Tipu's majestic gold throne was broken up and plundered in such a hurry by the victorious British that little is known about the fate of the remaining throne relics, although a large gold tiger head from the front of the throne platform now resides at Queen Elizabeth II's home in Windsor Castle along with a jewelled bird.
The tiger head, which is encrusted with diamonds, rubies and emeralds, had lain at Featherstone Castle in Northumberland before being hidden away in a bank.
"The British, sadly, weren't very well behaved in Seringapatnam," Penhallurick said.
"I would have thought a lot of the other finials have come to Britain. Others could have picked them up in India.
"We hope it goes back to India," she said.
Tipu, who adopted the tiger as the symbol of his power and kingship, became the East India Company's most feared foe, famously declaring: "I would rather live one day as a tiger than a lifetime as a sheep."
Penhallurick described the finial as "without a doubt, of the greatest historical significance as it belongs to the most important symbolic object in Tipu Sultan's kingdom, his throne, which he refused to mount until he had defeated the British."

Resolved Question: buy props and stuff from tv shows?

Resolved Question: Queen Victoria's underwear auctioned off. Should this have happened?
I have just heard on the radio news that some of Queen Victoria's underwear has been sold at an auction.
The sum obtained was only about 15, 000 pounds.
They even gave the poor woman's undie measurements.
Bloomers = 50 inches, waist measurement.
Camisole = 88 inches, bust measurement.
Petticoat = no size given.
I think this is most unseemly & Royal undies should be in the museum or left in a drawer somewhere.
What do you think?
Sorry I don't have a link as I heard this on the radio.
66 inch bust does still seem large, but thanks for that.
Duirmuid, 'they' have 'V.R.' embroidered on them.
Resolved Question: Exciting pants?
A pair of bloomers that apparently belonged to Queen Victoria are to be auctioned off in Derby.
The knickers have a 50in (127cm) waist and date from the 1890s, which indicates the monarch had a large girth as she approached her 70s.
Hanson's Auctioneers are selling the bloomers on 30 July and expect them to fetch at least £500.
The knickers, which come from a family in Lincolnshire, were owned by a lady-in-waiting to the Queen.
Auctioneer Charles Hanson said: "These pants, considering their provenance and pedigree, are very exciting."

My question is, what would you DO with them??
Resolved Question: 'Dead Prince Harry' to be shown in London. How disgusting?
The sculpture shows a life-size Harry lying on his back, clasping a locket featuring a picture of his mother, with pennies placed over his eyes, his head resting on a copy of the bible and a vulture perched on his boot.
The head is earless -- a reference to a reported threat from an Iraqi militia leader to send him back to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, without his ears.
A bronze casting of Harry's "ears" is to be sold on Internet auction site eBay, while organisers are also inviting visitors to the show to leave cards and flowers at the memorial.
People seem to be forgetting that Harry is only 23 years old! How do you think he feels about having a dead sculpture of himself put in London, at the time where his mother's inquest is going on.
Resolved Question: My Mum and boyfriend are coming here in 1 month, and I want to make it a great vacation for them both. Seeing?
my mum is going to be a tear-jerker, we are best friends, and I had to go and move away from America to the UK, and I miss her soooooooooo much. Can anyone help me to enable John (instead of referring to him only as "the boyfriend",he treats Mum like the Queen she deserves it and more!) to have a memorable holiday by giving me advice regarding his fav' hobby; which is COIN collecting. He's really a nice guy, very laid-back, & when it comes to getting coins, he is not an annoying type of collector who looks for marks, etc. on the coin(well, don't get me wrong,he won't buy one that looks like crapola!)he buys brand new from the ""Mint" catalogues, and he buys from E-Bay back home, not fussy. I'm looking for suggestions of places to take him that sell coins., i.e.-conventions, great coin shops, auctions, something along those lines, can anyone help me with this please?
Resolved Question: Ideas for a Christmas ball?
Organising a Christmas ball and want to know what sort of food I can order that is pritty cheap to buy but looks posh enough to be at a ball.
Also, other than dancing, what other things can you do at a ball (no rude replies) I was thinking of doing some kind of auction and having a prom queen and king.
Any other ideas?
Resolved Question: How much is it worth?
I have a mint condition collection of Queen vynals entitled "The Works". It comes complete with tour sheets and has been signed by all members of the band, including Freddy Murcury. Any idea how much this is worth, or how much it could fetch at auction?? Thanks X
