Looking at booking a villa in Spain and need to provide a 25% deposit now and the remainder 7 weeks before arrival. The initial sum will be approx £400 and the remainder will be £1200. The property provider only accepts payments via paypal and cheque and they are situated in Spain. If I make both payments using my Credit card through paypal, will my credit card company protect me if this is a scam. I know paypal only protect items that can be physically purchased/delivered and they will not insure against this type of case. Thanks in advance

Hi there, Well I've recently decided I wish to cash a majority of my Paypal funds, by transferring to bank account via Paypal, and cashing through my card. The amount however is around £25,000-30,000. I am curious as to whether or not I will be able to cash this amount (or let alone for it to be secured on my bank account) with no issues. I am unaware of any limits in terms of balances, but i am aware that there is a £200 withdrawal-a-day limit, but that is fine. If anyone could give me a figure at which there will be no issues/questions posed toward me; or better yet some peace of mind, I'd appreciate it. I purchased an item via the "best offer" function of eBay. I then found out that I was getting this item for my birthday, and so contacted the seller on the day after I bought it (today, Sunday) to request a refund, tell them not to dispatch the item, and apologise for the mishap. By this time the PayPal transaction had gone through. I got a reply from the seller telling me that "it was an auction and I won" - I assume that means they think the "Best Offer" means that it can't be refunded because eBay rules that say auctions cannot be refunded. Now I would like to know if I have a right to request a refund if I wish, before the item has been dispatched? I have further communicated with the seller and they seem to not want to refund me despite me telling them I will pay for any fees they have had to incur. According to the shipping status, it has also been dispatched. I did not want this to happen as I live with the person who is getting me this present and I don't want them to know that I got one! I dont have a credit card only a laser card i want to if i have a paypal account why cant i use my laser card they only take visa and mastercard i thou hgt the whole point of using paypal is that you could use it if you didnt have a credit card!!!! so annoyed

Resolved Question: Ebay buyer has paid but has now changed their mind and is asking for a refund?
The problem I have is the item is not yet in hand (as they are tickets). The buyer bought and paid for them about 2 weeks ago, but they've now emailed me saying that they're unable to go to the concert on the date so they're asking for a refund. If I don't, they could just do a chargeback through Paypal anyway, so I suppose I don't really have any other option than to refund them. I would at least like to deduct my eBay/Paypal and listing fees from the refund, does this seem acceptable? Or do you think it's less hassle just to give them a full refund back even though I'm going to be out of pocket? I would also like to hang onto my 100% feedback. Unfortunately I have already left them feedback as they paid quickly, and there's no way of leaving negative feedback for a buyer even if they back out of the sale. Cheers Devistation, I wasn't too sure if I could cancel the transaction after a certain amount of time. I've been selling for 6 years but have fortunately never had any problems, therefore I'm not too used to having to go through the Resolution Centre etc. I've now cancelled the transaction, emailed the buyer to ask them to agree to it and told them I'd issue a refund as soon as this is done.
