Resolved Question: Where can I get cash for my old camera online?
Hey, There are loads of sites like envirofone.com / mazumamobile which offer cash for old mobile phones . I was wondering whether anyone knows of any that do the same for Digital Cameras - I came across one the other day but can't remember the name! I live in London, England so American sites won't do it for me plus I don't want to do an online auction e.g. ebay! Thanks!!

Resolved Question: Would you find it easier to forgive a cheating husband/partner if he gave you expensive jewellery?
every time he cheated on you? Surely every addition to your growing jewellery collection, would only be a sign of sad infidelity & so what joy could be derived from such jewels? London, August 18 (ANI): A cheating husband showered his wife with expensive jewellery every time he repeated infidelity, leading her to gather a collection worth almost 300,000 pounds. Businessman Robert Charlton, from Leicester, UK, made up for breaking his wedding vows by gifting diamond jewels to wife Elizabeth, who was apparently aware of his extra-marital activities. The unusual arrangement was said to have worked for the couple until Charlton passed away aged 63 in 1979. Elizabeth, who allegedly told friends the gifts made it easier for her to forgive her husband, died in 2006, leaving her collection to their only child Marie, who put it to auction and raised 286,000 pounds. "It is a beautiful collection of fine diamond jewellery. There were 43 items in total," the Daily Express quoted Clare Durham, of auctioneers Woolley and Wallis of Salisbury, Wiltshire, as saying. Clare added: "His daughter was aware of what was going on and the family have told us the story - it was no secret." (ANI)

Resolved Question: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Tickets?
Would it be possible to get tickets to the London premiere? How do you get them? How much are they? How far in advance do you have to buy them? Please don't answer "only stars on people that worked on the movie can get them" I would be willing to do almost anything to get tickets. Auctions, ebay, other websites, going to London to buy them... please any ideas! I thought that since it's such a big movie, tickets would sell out REALLY fast. So i was going to but them way in advance to ensure that I could get one or more.

Resolved Question: Are you checking your change?! And for how much would your sell your 20p coin?
London, July 4 (ANI): A punter was left ecstatic after he was handed out a rare undated 20p coin worth more than 7,000 pounds in change for his pint. Lloyd Hefferman had been with his friends at The Botolph Arms pub in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, when bar staff gave him the coin, which was amongst others mistakenly released by the Royal Mint in Cardiff last year. A handful of coins had already found takers on auction site eBay, with one fetching as much as 7,100 pounds recently. "I had heard about the rare 20 pence pieces on the news that day, and was talking with my mates about how brilliant it would be to find one," the Telegraph quoted Hefferman as saying. "When I was given my change I thought I would have a look to see if I had one, not expecting to find it and then I just couldn't believe my eyes. "I have had offers from friends and colleagues for up to 500 pounds, but won't be selling it yet." eanwhile, a spokesman for the Royal Mint also said: "Last year there was an unusual lapse in quality control at the Royal Mint. A batch of 20p coins were issued with mismatched sides. The result is a number of 20p coins have entered circulation without a date."

Resolved Question: Isn't this a wonderful way to clear a room?!?
London, June 19 (ANI): Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom's mother is auctioning off her son's clothes, slippers and a wet suit, in a bid to clear out his room before she moves house. Sonia Copeland-Bloom will also be selling off costumes worn by 'The Lords of the Ring' star during the filming of the trilogy. The money raised from 32-year-old star's unwanted possessions will go to charity. "I have spoken to Orlando who is quite happy for me to get as much as I can for charity," the Telegraph quoted Mrs Copeland-Bloom, who lives in Kent as saying. "There are some real collector's items among them and they will all be authenticated by me by letter," she added. The collection includes a bodyline wet suit used by Orlando, when he filmed a scene with Elijah Wood in The Return of the King and a poster signed by the entire cast, a pair of Moroccan slippers and boots he wore in The Kingdom of Heaven. Gucci shoes, Puma trainers, polo shirts and a hooded waterproof Gap jacket belonging to the star is also up for sale. "We are inviting people to send us bids of which the top ones will be invited to see the items before submitting a further sealed bid," said Copeland-Bloom. The money raised will be divided between four charities, UNESCO, the New Marlow Theatre, cancer charity Odyssey and the UKC Music Scholarships.

Resolved Question: Would you be happy if a stranger bought your lost luggage & 'appreciated the contents' ?
And let other strangers rifle though it online by simply clicking on a suitcase to see whats inside?? i'm sure some people would rather their lost luggage stayed lost! Melbourne, May 14 (ANI): A new website launched by a woman, who has made it her life's mission to buy lost luggage, allows travellers to view the items online. Though the pictures can sometimes reveal many embarrassing things about its owner, for British woman Luna Laboo it is only being done in the hopes of reuniting the owners with their bags. Laboo said the idea for the site, www.isthisyourluggage.com, came to her six months ago after hearing about luggage going missing at Heathrow's Terminal 5 in London, which at the time had lost 20,000 bags. "I began to wonder where all the lost luggage was going. I found the auction where the luggage was being sold off and went along to buy a case," News.com.au quoted Laboo as saying. "I thought I'd maybe buy one just to see what was in them, but there is something incredibly intriguing about other peoples things... I took the photos as I thought this would be the best way to appreciate the contents as a whole," she said. The luggage can cost between 35 dollars and 90 dollars at auction, and provides Laboo with hours of priceless "excitement". She is hopeful that the lost luggage will eventually find its way back to its owners, though this is yet to happen, and she says she will only charge the owner postage fees for returning the luggage. "I wouldn't expect them to pay, maybe for the cost of postage but nothing else, I'm not holding it to ransom, just looking after it," she added. Laboo has bought 11 bags so far, and plans to keep buying more lost luggage and continue to expand her website, which lets people rifle through others' lost luggage online by simply clicking on a suitcase to see whats inside. Resolved Question: How much would you bid for a singing lesson with soul musician Aretha Franklin or for Stevie Wonder's harmonic?
This, i think, is a true definition of 'soul'... London, May 15 (ANI): Legendary soul musician Aretha Franklin is auctioning singing lessons to fans in a bid to raise money for charity. Franklin's has offered one-on-one vocal session to fans as an exclusive prize at charitybuzz.com, reports the Daily Star. The profits from the auction will benefit the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights. Stevie Wonder has also donated his harmonica for the sale. Bidders can also win a dinner date comedian Bill Cosby, a visit to the Desperate Housewives set, swimming lessons from Olympic champion Michael Phelps and a meet-and-greet with Oprah Winfrey and VIP tickets to her daily talk show. Resolved Question: How warped is it to spread sinister messages through something as innocuous & innocent as a women's magazine?
London, Apr 15 (ANI): A collection of Nazi women's magazines featuring knitting patterns, fashion advice, and at the same time blaming the British for WWII are set to be auctioned. The Frauen Warte, literally translated as Women Wait, had been designed for German housewives. However, on closer inspection, they were discovered to contain a more sinister purpose. The magazines featured a number of celebrities, including leading Nazi Hermann Goering, and had stories on home economics and fashion news mixed with those about Britain's culpability in the devastating conflict. The Frauen Warte, which ran from 1935 to 1945 and was the Nazi Party's biweekly-illustrated magazine for women, had a circulation of nearly two million at its peak. Now, a total of 65 editions will go under the hammer on April 23 at Ludlow Racecourse in Shropshire as part of an auction held by Mullocks Auctioneers. It was compiled by an English collector from sales in Germany, and will be auctioned together with Boys Own-style magazines aimed at schoolboys extolling the virtues of shooting down English aircraft and blowing up English ships. "As you turn through these pages you get an incredibly creepy feeling about these magazines as you realise they are not what they appear to be," the Telegraph quoted the firm's historical documents expert Richard Westwood-Brookes as saying. "It shows the Nazi machine was so well-oiled it infiltrated every single area of human society. "It's a frighteningly cunning way to get everyone thinking along the same lines, women would get together to talk about things and this would be how these messages spread," he added. The women's magazines have a guide price of between 500 pounds and 700 pounds. (ANI) Edit: Nice thought Filya Puta...

Resolved Question: Do you think this short poem by Elvis Presley is worth $20,000?
Or do you think its cruel & tasteless & worth nothing but a grimace... London, March 29 (IANS) A short poem written by rock and roll legend Elvis Presley about a dead bird has sold at an auction for a staggering $20,000 (14,000 pounds). The King of Rock scrawled the rhyme on a piece of paper after apparently killing a robin that perched on his window ledge, reports contactmusic.com. The note, written on his own stationary, reads, 'As I awoke this morning when all sweet things are born, a robin perched on my window sill to greet the coming dawn. He sang his sweet song so sweetly and paused for a moment's lull, I gently raised the window and crushed his ******* skull'. The poem was part of an online sale of Elvis memorabilia, which closed March 26. Other items sold in the auction included a jumpsuit he wore at a concert at New York's Madison Square Garden, which went for $212,588.40 (148,663 pounds), and the typed lyrics for his song 'Young and Beautiful', which went under the hammer for $1,155.60 (791.50 pounds).

Resolved Question: Isn't it lovely that Jack Tweek is auctioning off Jade's clothes to raise money for cancer charities?
People have lots of nasty things to say...but i wonder why something as sincere & kind like this goes unmentioned... LONDON: Jade Goody's widower Jack Tweed plans to auction off the late reality TV star's clothes to raise money for cancer charities. Tweed, who will clear out his wife's house after her funeral April 4, will keep some of Goody's prized possessions but has told family and friends that her clothes will either be given to Cancer Research charity shops or sold off to raise cash for Marie Curie nurses, reported thesun.co.uk "Jack said he and Jade (Goody) talked about what to do with her stuff when she was gone. She told him to give it away to shops or sell it as long as the money went to a good cause," said a source. Edit: Sorry, typo, Jack Tweed..

Resolved Question: Where do you think this gem encrusted gold finial belongs?
Ten years after being found lying in the vaults of an English bank, a gem-encrusted gold finial plundered from Tipu Sultan's huge golden throne is being put up for sale in London. Auctioneers Bonhams, who describe the finial as "one of the most important Tipu items ever to appear for sale", have valued it at around 800,000 pounds. The tiger-head finial was one of eight that stood on each end of a gigantic gold octagonal throne in Seringpatnam, on which Tipu - a legendary admirer of the tiger - would have sat cross-legged, but didn't because he vowed not to mount it until he had defeated the British. It was discovered during a routine inspection by auctioneers in the late 1990s, having lain in an English castle for at least 100 years and then in a bank vault. Only two more of the eight finials are known to exist - one is in the Clive Collection in Wales. Another briefly appeared in a London dealer's catalogue in the 1970s, never to be seen again, Claire Penhallurick of Bonhams Indian and Islamic Department, said. The finial going under the hammer April 2 belongs to the family of Thomas Wallace, who oversaw the East India Company, whose army defeated Tipu Sultan in the battle of Seringapatnam (Srirangapatnam) May 4, 1799. Penhallurick said Tipu's majestic gold throne was broken up and plundered in such a hurry by the victorious British that little is known about the fate of the remaining throne relics, although a large gold tiger head from the front of the throne platform now resides at Queen Elizabeth II's home in Windsor Castle along with a jewelled bird. The tiger head, which is encrusted with diamonds, rubies and emeralds, had lain at Featherstone Castle in Northumberland before being hidden away in a bank. "The British, sadly, weren't very well behaved in Seringapatnam," Penhallurick said. "I would have thought a lot of the other finials have come to Britain. Others could have picked them up in India. "We hope it goes back to India," she said. Tipu, who adopted the tiger as the symbol of his power and kingship, became the East India Company's most feared foe, famously declaring: "I would rather live one day as a tiger than a lifetime as a sheep." Penhallurick described the finial as "without a doubt, of the greatest historical significance as it belongs to the most important symbolic object in Tipu Sultan's kingdom, his throne, which he refused to mount until he had defeated the British." http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/World/Tipus-tiger-throne-finial-to-be-auctioned-in-London-/articleshow/4293112.cms

Resolved Question: Did you know you can make a big deal out of Happy Meals?
Methinks theres a fortune lying in our homes...! LONDON: A British boy made a big deal out of Happy Meals. Luke Underwood, 11, had his 5,000-piece collection of posters, Happy Meal boxes, toys, and promotional displays auctioned on Wednesday night, selling for USD 11,500, which includes a 15% buyer's premium. Luke, who is from South Clifton, Nottinghamshire, 220 kilometres north of London, said on Thursday it was tough to put the collection under the hammer. "It was sad to see it go," he said on a telephone interview on his way home from school. "We just needed the room. It was on the landing. It was everywhere." Unique Auctions' owner Terry Woodcock said he had no idea the memorabilia would sell. "I didn't think people would be interested in McDonald's toys. I've never been so wrong about an auction in 20 years," he said. Woodcock said that people from around the world — including the US, Germany and Australia — bought pieces of the collection. One man paid USD 420 for a 101 Dalmatians toy to finish his own collection. Luke's father, Philip, had bought most of the collection for his son four years ago for USD 350, and they've been adding to it. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/World/Mad-Mad-World/McDonalds-memorabilia-sells-for-11500/articleshow/4233932.cms Edit: Welcome back Kat! xx

Resolved Question: Does anyone have a terracotta vase being used as a garden ornament?
Methinks you should check how old it is... London, Feb 03 (ANI): A terracotta vase used as a garden ornament turned out to be an ancient Egyptian relic dating back almost 3,000 years. The owner inherited the 13-inch high stone jar about 20 years ago from an uncle and kept it in her front garden in north Dorset, not realising its importance. The canopic jar, complete with cover, was originally designed to hold the internal organs of the dead as part of the mummification process.Experts discovered that the lid of the ornament was modelled on the face of the Egyptian god Imseti, wearing a black striped wig. The jar was designed to hold the liver and Imseti would have protected the organ for use in the afterlife, according to ancient tradition. The owner took it to be valued and was surprised to find out the piece, with its distinctive pharaoh headdress, dates to between 1550-1069 BC."It came from an uncle who was a bit of a collector and when he died about 20 years ago it came to us," the Telegraph quoted the owner of the ancient jar, who does not want to be named, as saying. "We didn't know what it was and we have kept it on the patio and in the shed over the years. It was just used as a decorative piece, a lump of stone. "Then I looked at it and saw it had a face and it looked a bit Egyptian so we took it in to be valued and was told it was from ancient Egypt."It was a great surprise that something that had been sitting there for some time unrecognised turned out to be so old," the owner added. The ancient jar is damaged and so is not expected to sell for more than 1,000 pounds when it goes on sale at the auction house Duke's in Dorchester on February 5. However, Amy Brenan from Duke's said: "It is very rare to have something such as this brought to us. "The owner had had it in his garden for about 20 years without realising what it was. It is incredible to think how old it is and what was happening in the world when this was made.(ANI)

Resolved Question: Why can't I find a cheap property in London?
The Press are full of stories about the fall in property prices, and people defaulting on their mortgages, causing the Banks to re-posses their homes and sell the properties on. As a want-to-be first-time buyer, I am keeping my eyes peeled on the property market in anticipation of being able to finally get my foot on the first rung. And yet, according to Right Move, Primelocation and Nestoria, I don't seem to be seeing any of these "cheaper" properties. I am still seeing overpriced studio flats in old council flats being sold in excess of £300,000. I find it hard to believe that these properties are selling, especially at this time of the credit crunch. The Evening Standard and the BBC both listed West Hampstead in NW London as the worst area for people trying to sell, and yet there is no decent stock listed on the market. So, where can I find out about these cheaper sales? The Estate Agents are useless (as always). Are these properties being auctioned, and if so where do I hear about them?

Resolved Question: does anyone kno any auctions in london where i can buy goods confiscated by police. Thanx.?

Resolved Question: (UK) I am considering purchasing a London flat at auction. What factors do I need to consider?
The actual auction process. By the way, I know for a fact this property is being marketed at well under average market value anyway, is in need of upgrading, and may go for less that what it is being advertised at anyway. That's why I'm giving this some thought, as the negative equity risk should be fairly minimal. Oh, and what I should be looking out for in terms of the valuation, legal matters, etc.

There used to be a great one at Wexham, Slough, but that's been gone for years now Does anyone know of a decent auction around the West London area ? Don't mind travelling, but I don't fancy traipsing over half the country for one say about 1/2 an hour to an hours drive away (I got to get anything I buy back home, haven't I ?) MAYBE I didnt make it clear enough, I am looking for a cattle auction near West London, a cattle/poultry auction is a place where cattle ands poutry are put up for auction, a bit like ebay, but its a live auction, you can see/touch/smell what you are buying and you can pay by cash and take your auction win home straight away (after paying fot it

Resolved Question: What we can do? What is the cheapest way?
This is the full story, what we can do? Please help. Thanks!!! "Dear Sir/Madam, I would like to appeal against a penalty charge that I have encountered for my vehicle (registration number:....). On 11th August 2007, we have moved from ...., London .... to ...., London ...... Every two weeks we kept going back to the old address to check up on our mail but every single time the new resident has advised us that we had not received anything. One day, I have gone around again and found a letter in the letterbox from the LBWF Parking Control Office, telling me that despite their first letter I have not paid my penalty for the car. Obviously, due to not receiving the first letter I could not pay the fine and the charge has gone up by then. On the letter it stated the penalty charge number (....), the vehicle registration number, location and date of contravention (... Road, CCTV, 11/09/2007) and the total amount of charge that was already £155.00. After reading this letter I have immediately appealed against it, asking the proof of the CCTV shot because I did not remember being on ....Road at that time and also explaining the fact that I have moved and did not receive the first letter. I have posted my appeal to The Traffic Enforcement Centre at Northampton County Court, NN1 2LH. I have sent this by recorded delivery. After this I have not heard back from anyone acknowledging the receipt of my appeal or anything regarding this matter. On 17/09/2008 I have received a red letter from JBW Enforcement Ltd. Re: Bailiff Removal Notice. The letter stated that I must pay £363.84 in 5 days otherwise a removal team and police will enter my property and remove goods to sell at public auction. This is blackmail and absolutely unacceptable! I have immediately called JBW but they said they cannot do anything. I have to pay the fine or go to a lawyer. I had to pay this ridiculous amount because someone had made a mistake or disregarded my appeal. I now would like this amount to be refunded back to me because it was out of my control to pay the fine in the first place. I have proof of my appeal that was sent on 25/01/08 and the registered mail number from Royal Mail."

Resolved Question: Could you sell your Existence on Ebay?.
An eccentric British millionaire has put his entire life up for sale on the Internet -- including his title of Lord of the Manor of Warleigh -- in the hope of converting his assets into cash. Resolved Question: Austen`s Mr. Darcy???
I also said Colin Firth was miscast and that Darcy had to have been an oversexed English guy with blue eyes and blond hair. Pure Georgian! Now whilst Colin is probably a whole lot sexier than Darcy he is not and was not the man himself. Cut to: a watercolour of the `real` Mr. Darcy going under the hammer at some London auction gallery. The man himself was Thomas Lefroy, a 20-year-old law student and landowner, who (apparently) sought marriage with Austen until and unless (the dowry) was insufficient and/or not forthcoming. So there!!!
