Resolved Question: Where do you think this gem encrusted gold finial belongs?
Ten years after being found lying in the vaults of an English bank, a gem-encrusted gold finial plundered from Tipu Sultan's huge golden throne is being put up for sale in London. Auctioneers Bonhams, who describe the finial as "one of the most important Tipu items ever to appear for sale", have valued it at around 800,000 pounds. The tiger-head finial was one of eight that stood on each end of a gigantic gold octagonal throne in Seringpatnam, on which Tipu - a legendary admirer of the tiger - would have sat cross-legged, but didn't because he vowed not to mount it until he had defeated the British. It was discovered during a routine inspection by auctioneers in the late 1990s, having lain in an English castle for at least 100 years and then in a bank vault. Only two more of the eight finials are known to exist - one is in the Clive Collection in Wales. Another briefly appeared in a London dealer's catalogue in the 1970s, never to be seen again, Claire Penhallurick of Bonhams Indian and Islamic Department, said. The finial going under the hammer April 2 belongs to the family of Thomas Wallace, who oversaw the East India Company, whose army defeated Tipu Sultan in the battle of Seringapatnam (Srirangapatnam) May 4, 1799. Penhallurick said Tipu's majestic gold throne was broken up and plundered in such a hurry by the victorious British that little is known about the fate of the remaining throne relics, although a large gold tiger head from the front of the throne platform now resides at Queen Elizabeth II's home in Windsor Castle along with a jewelled bird. The tiger head, which is encrusted with diamonds, rubies and emeralds, had lain at Featherstone Castle in Northumberland before being hidden away in a bank. "The British, sadly, weren't very well behaved in Seringapatnam," Penhallurick said. "I would have thought a lot of the other finials have come to Britain. Others could have picked them up in India. "We hope it goes back to India," she said. Tipu, who adopted the tiger as the symbol of his power and kingship, became the East India Company's most feared foe, famously declaring: "I would rather live one day as a tiger than a lifetime as a sheep." Penhallurick described the finial as "without a doubt, of the greatest historical significance as it belongs to the most important symbolic object in Tipu Sultan's kingdom, his throne, which he refused to mount until he had defeated the British." http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/World/Tipus-tiger-throne-finial-to-be-auctioned-in-London-/articleshow/4293112.cms

Resolved Question: Any idea on what we should do? 10pts for best answer?
This March I will be travelling to Calcutta in India with The Hope Foundation (working for the street children of Calcutta). To get there we need to raise around €23,000 between six of us students and we have already raised €13,000 of that, leaving us around two months to come up with another ten grand! So far we've done things like a gig, a disco, legwax, an auction, bag packing, a winter ball, skipathon etc.. We live in a small enough town but aren't too far from the city so if you have any suggestions on what we could do to raise money I would REALLY appreiciate it because we're really feeling the pressure at the moment.. Please keep in mind that the six of us are all 16 or under and under a lot of pressure for time! Thanks a million! :)

Resolved Question: Should the US auction of a few states to pay its debts?
Now the great American dream has become a nightmare it is time to break up and sell off some of the 50 states to raise cash? Canada could have Alaska, Russia and India may like some of the western states the UK could re-take control of New England, The Afro-Americans could take over the cotton plantations and make the white Americans pick cotton but if the whites are too lazy to work please don't load them into ships and send them back to Europe. The Original native American Indians could be let out of the reservations and given back the land of their birthright to hunt and fish like their forefathers. Your ideas please for a film to tell the story of how the Wild West was finally lost back to the people from whom it was stolen in the first place. By now you think I'm crazy but I see a lot more fun to be had with this theme and want to know what your thoughts are.

Resolved Question: Price drop TV what a rip off ( Gemstone Globe 1015 pm 26/06/08 on Price drop tv)?
Did anybody order the Gemstone Globe in a prebid and if so did you bid still work and get it for a £1. Last night i out a pre bid of £15 in for the globes so i was safe. But it dropped to a £1 and they wiped my bid, what was strange is how did they all go in 3 seconds. The customer service is rubbish, its in india and they really dont have a single clue. I have proof of auction and i still persue it. Also i purchased 3 items five days apart and they all coem same day. Good you might think but i got charged £26 p and p but they all came together.. Qvc in the same items would have charged £14 but if it was all coming together i would have got it half price. Ideal World work same way. If with qvc you order 4 items say £8, £7, £6, £6 p and p you would be additional p and p half price. I think the odd megadrop ius genuine, i know the gemstone globe one wasnt but i will get it.
